St. John the Apostle Catholic School offers their students and families a variety of activities and opportunities. Below is a brief explanation of items listed on our school calendar. All activities and dates are subject to change. Please read the SJA Newsletter and St. John the Apostle Catholic Church bulletin to confirm dates and times of activities.
HarvestFest is sponsored by our PTO in the fall. Our school and parish families participate in many different games and activities to include bounce houses, face painting, food, cake walk and much more. Fun is had by all!
Student of the Month is held each month to honor a student in each class grades PreK-8. Each student receives recognition of the virtue of the month with a certificate. Refreshments are provided to the students and their families.
A week long celebration is held by St. John the Apostle School to acknowledge the Catholic Identity of our Catholic School system. Students are involved in many activities throughout the week. Our 8th grade class competes in volleyball games against the faculty and staff on Friday.
Grandparents are invited to visit school and attend a special program with the students. Our students create and design special gifts for their grandparents and give them a tour of their classrooms.
Several of our faculty coach a variety of after-school athletic activities for our students. Our sports include Cross Country, Track, Basketball, Cheerleading, and Field Hockey.
Students and parents meet the teachers before school begins. School supplies are purchased through the school and given out at that time..
The meeting begins in the SJA Gym. The pastor and the principal speak and introduce the faculty. Then, parents visit their child's classroom(s) to meet their child’s teacher(s). (Adults only-no students)
Our 2nd grade students bring flowers to school to be placed on the altar for a Mass to honor Mary.
School Masses are held every Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. Parents are always welcome to attend.
These Conferences are held twice a year. The teachers schedule conference times with the parents.
Our Open House is held the Sunday of Catholic Schools Week and provides information about St. John the Apostle Catholic School to prospective parents. Tours are conducted by SJA students.
A book sale is held and classes are assigned specific shopping times. Parents are welcome to attend and shop. Teachers post "wish lists" at the Book Fair of books they would like to have for their classrooms.
Students and teachers demonstrate school spirit with a pep-rally. Classes perform cheers in preparation for our Basketball season.
Second grade students receive their First Communion in May.
Students compete in sports activities. Competition includes individual and team events. Lunch is provided by the PTO.
Stingray Run is held in the spring at Sandbridge Beach with a 5K, 1 mile and 50 yard dash. Students design the t-shirt for each runner. A spaghetti dinner is held the Friday evening before prepared by our very own Parish dedicated Knights of Columbus Chefs. There you can pick up you race shirt and goodie bags.
The SJA Christmas Program is performed by all of our students each December. Little Rays – 2nd Grades perform a Christmas Program and 3rd – 8th Grades perform a Christmas Carol Concert.
Various classes go out and sing Christmas Carols at hospitals, retirement homes, etc. during the month of December.
Mother and Son Game Night is sponsored by our SCA. It is an evening full of a variety of games that mother and son compete in.
Father and Daughter Dance is sponsored by our SCA. It is an evening of music and dancing that is enjoyed by all the princesses and their dads.
