St. John the Apostle Catholic School is the jewel of Sandbridge, serving Pre K-3 through 8th grade. We invite you to experience our commitment to our students and families as we live out our motto: Pray, Learn, Grow.
Pray: SJA provides a faith filled foundation ensuring a strong Catholic identity in liturgy, scripture, prayer, sacraments and service. Students are paired with a prayer partner to help encourage and share their faith journey. Students participate in Mass as lectors, gift bearers and altar servers.
Learn: SJA transforms classroom instruction by implementing 21st century skills. Students in grades 5-8 receive their own Chromebooks and the state-of-the-art technology lab enhances student engagement and achievement:
Grow: SJA creates a nurturing and safe environment that enables students to realize their full potential as lifelong learners. SJA teachers encourage students to recognize the gifts of others and to focus on the needs of the undeserved and underprivileged individuals in our local and global communities.
If you are searching to find that special place that feels like home, we invite you to come and experience the spirit of St. John the Apostle Catholic School. It's the SJA way!
St. John the Apostle Catholic School is AdvancED accredited and the Diocese of Richmond is AdvancED accredited as a school system.
AdvancED is the largest community of education professionals in the world. They are a non-profit, non-partisan organization that conducts rigorous, on-site external reviews of Pre-K-12 schools and school systems to ensure that all learners realize their full potential. While their expertise is grounded in more than a hundred years of work in school accreditation, AdvancED is far from a typical accrediting agency. Their goal isn’t to certify that schools are good enough. Rather, their commitment is to help schools improve.
Combining the knowledge and expertise of a research institute, the skills of a management consulting firm and the passion of a grassroots movement for educational change, AdvancED serves as a trusted partner to 34,000 schools and school systems—employing more than four million educators and enrolling more than 20 million students—across the United States and 70 other nations.
