John Moriarty attended Mass at St. John the Apostle Church when the doors first opened and welcomed the parish community in 1994. October 2011 Christ Renews His Parish was a transformative weekend for him as it has been for the multitudes that attend. As a result John joined the Knights of Columbus in 2012, served the CHRP Continuation Committee over 7 formation teams, attended RCIA classes as a sponsor to help others become Catholic and initiated a fundraiser now approaching its 3rd season. Four godchildren is a cherished role. His Catholic journey encourages people to learn more about The Archdiocese for the Military Services, AMS U.S.A., a Latin Church jurisdiction of the Catholic Church for men and women serving in the United States Armed services. His fellowship with AMS John carries out a Parish’s call to serve other Parishes for their unique needs; in this regard by bringing unity and peace through prayer. He is a member of the VPI and SU Caldwell Society. After graduating from Paul Smith’s College and Virginia Tech with degrees in Forestry and Agronomy, John started a business that focuses on environmental protection. He owns a patent and developed fertilizer products using waste with organic nutrients. This has led to significant reductions in nutrient pollution to waterways and an abundance of healthy and happy plants.. With extensive travel came one airport encounter with a nun. After an exchange of niceties to include background and experiences, she smiled and said warmly, “I’ve met another John who works with water”.
