If you receive a text, email, or instant message asking for money, funds, wires, or gift cards from Fr. Rob, BEWARE! This is a scam. Fr. Rob would never solicit money or gift cards by targeting individuals in this manner. If you look closely at the source email, you will notice that the address is not really Fr. Rob’s, although it might look similar at first glance. The same applies to requests you might receive from the Richmond Diocese seeking funds on behalf of Bishop Knestout. Do not respond to these phishing expeditions in any way—delete them immediately. Do not engage with the person on the other end!
As a community, we strive to support survivors of child sexual abuse on their journey toward healing and wholeness. For those who have suffered abuse by clergy residing in the Catholic Diocese of Richmond, we invite you to join virtually on November 9 and/or November 30, at 7:00pm. Spouses and affected community members are also welcome. These gatherings, led by an independent facilitator, will offer a safe environment for participants to connect, share experiences, support, and heal. If you would like more information, or the virtual meeting link, please call the Victim Assistance Coordinator at (877) 887-9603 or email [email protected]
Election Day is November 8, and early voting begins September 23.
This year’s elections will determine Virginia’s representatives in all 11 U.S. congressional districts, and other offices in some localities.
Voting is our sacred duty. To prepare:
First, register to vote if you are not registered already. A Virginia Catholic Conference bulletin insert explains how to register, eligibility and key dates.
Second, prayerfully form your conscience. We recommend reading the VCC’s Four Principles of Catholic Social Teaching bulletin insert.
Visit www.vacatholic.org to view both inserts (or see links to the left).
As we have stated in previous pre-election letters, three foundational principles are essential to conscience formation as it relates to assessing candidates and their positions:
Faithfully yours in Christ,
Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge, Bishop of Arlington
Most Reverend Barry C. Knestout, Bishop of Richmond
